Meet Be You Training Program Runner Allen Bailey
Posted by Hanson Lee on
In 2011, Allen found himself overweight and in need of change. As a result, Allen decided to join Weight Watchers alongside a friend to get his health back on track. After a successful weight loss journey, Allen eventually found the motivation to accomplish the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 2014, his first half marathon. From then on, running has grown to become Allen’s way of not giving up and being the best version of himself that he can be.
Allen is an introvert, but that doesn’t stop him from being a social butterfly. Allen views Be You as a safe place for being talkative and interacting with friends, as well as new people. The social atmosphere and Be You’s supportive community has given Allen more reasons to enjoy the running lifestyle.
Allen first joined the Be You Training Programs in the Fall of 2019, participating in the Wednesday night group. Accomplishments on his running resume, not limited to the group, consisting of 5Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, and half marathons, and so you could guess Allen wanted to join because he loves to run! But also because after recovering from an injury two years ago, he wanted a training program that would help him ease back into his running journey.
Superstition doesn’t phase Allen and his fitness goals, but all-natural pre-run snacks such as Medjool dates, raisins, nuts, homemade trail mix are always a plus for the 55-year-old individual. Of course, Allen enjoys doing the good old carbo-loading technique before a big race. Pizza or pasta are his go-to meals for this tradition, but not both at the same time.
As far as 2020 goes, Allen is just thankful that he gets to continue calling himself a runner and wants to continue focusing on his running journey month by month. Every goal is another finish line, and Allen is looking forward to continuing his Be You experience like a champ!
