Numbness & tingling can be helped with properly fitting shoes

Dear Ask the Shoesfitter,
I have a ruptured disc L5/S1 with numbness and tingling in my three toes on my right leg along with constant sciatic pain. Can any of your shoes help me? I am in a constant state of discomfort and everything I read say it just takes a long time for this type of injury to heal. Please advise. I did not see this type of problem addressed anywhere on your website.
Mary
Hi Mary,
Thank you for your questions. I am sorry for your injury and resulting discomfort. Shoes are the foundation for our bodies and they can certainly make a big difference with regards to our posture, starting at the ankle and working up to knees, hips and back. However, without seeing your foot type and observing your gait, it is really hard for me or any one to recommend a specific shoe for you. I would also encourage you to make sure you are in the correct size shoe, both length width and depth, because that may help with some of the tingling you are experiencing.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I would encourage you to go to a shoe store where they are trained to properly fit and select shoes, like SHOES-n-FEET, but if you can't come to one of our stores, then I would look for a specialty running or pedorthic based shoe store, they are likely able to help you as well.
Kind Regards, JB
