Beat the Bunny 5K Race Review

Something for everyone

Ask any runner what their favorite thing about race day is and you are likely to get a range of answers. For me, it’s pushing myself, having the chance to PR, remembering that fast is fun, soaking in the atmosphere that you can’t find anywhere else, and of course the feeling of accomplishment that comes afterwards. I know that many runners also have these same thoughts. Additionally, another great thing that comes along with race day (especially with fun runs such as Beat the Bunny 5K) is the chance to get some swag. This race was over the top. It had post-race snacks, t-shirts, finisher’s medals, candy, and, for the age group winners, gift cards to a running store. All ages were welcome to participate in the 5K and the kids even had a special race before the main event. The course was simple to follow, flat, and FAST.

Strong showing from team Shoes-N-Feet

Four members of the SNF Racing team competed in the event. Although each racer on the team has a different story, running has brought us all together and Beat the Bunny 5K gave us the opportunity to show up, race hard, and, most importantly, beat the bunny.

On the men’s side, team member Jesse Wise raced in his very first 5K. Jesse is very well accustomed to running long distances (he usually runs marathons) so it was a new challenge for him to turn up the intensity and turn down the distance. Overall he placed inside the top 10 with a time of 20:07. Also on the men’s side, David Parsons won his age group with a strong time of 21:31.

On the women’s side, I raced my first 5K since my junior year of college and was only 15 seconds off of my PR. I was the first place woman with a time of 18:30. Maia Earle also competed on the women’s side, was the 2nd place female, and won her age group. Her time of 20:41 placed her 11th overall in the race.
